Social Trainers Specific Conditions

Social Trainers: Classification Levels

If you are employed in the role of Social Trainer in the Accommodation Services Directorate of the Disability Services Commission, with no qualifications and have limited experience in working with people with intellectual disabilities then you are employed at Level 1.

Once you have completed a Certificate III plus 3 units of Certificate IV in Disability Work through DSC or a Registered Training Organisation and have relevant experience then you can apply to be reclassified to Level 2.

Once you have completed a Certificate IV in Disability work through DSC or a Registered Training Organisation and have relevant experience you can apply for appointment to one of the designated Level 3 Social Trainer positions if one is vacant.

Relevant experience can include any of the following:

  • Working with or caring for people with an intellectual disability as an employee, volunteer, friend or family member;
  • Paid or unpaid work in another social services area;
  • Life experience including community work, volunteer work, independent living and caring for family members with an intellectual disability.
  • Other areas or work or experience which DSC may deem relevant.
